Kharibari school locked on Saraswati Puja, students upset, parents protest

Siliguri, 03rd February: Students arrived early at Dilsaram Primary School in Kharibari for Saraswati Puja, but were dismayed to find the school gate locked. This led to an outburst from the parents, who protested outside the school demanding the celebration of the puja.

The incident occurred after locals expressed their anger over the absence of the traditional Saraswati Puja at the school. They gathered at the school gate, chanting slogans such as, ‘We Want Puja.’

Parents voiced their frustration, stating that the puja is a yearly event that brings joy to students. This year, however, there was no celebration. When the students arrived in the morning to find the school locked, they became upset and joined their parents in the protest.

In response, the school principal assured over the phone that although there was a delay, the puja would still be held.

The Chairman of the Siliguri Primary Education Council, in a phone conversation, emphasized that Saraswati Puja should be conducted in all educational institutions and confirmed that an inquiry would be launched into why it was not observed at the school.
