Kharibari, 07th August: In a significant operation, Kharibari Police apprehended a sand mafia involved in illegal sand extraction from the river. The accused, identified as Sanjay Singh, hails from Kharibari and was taken into custody on Sunday. Alongside the arrest, the police also seized a dumper and a JCB used in the illegal sand extraction activities.
The arrest was made in the Dumuria River area of Kharibari, where the accused was reportedly involved in unauthorized sand mining, contravening the orders of the Green Tribunal. Today, Sanjay Singh was presented before the Siliguri Divisional Court for further legal proceedings.
