Kharibari, 29th June: Sushna Mardi, a member of the Kharibari Panchayat Samiti, has been missing for four days, prompting her family and locals to block National Highway 327 at Dhakru More near Panitanki in Kharibari on Saturday.
According to family sources, Sushna Mardi had a registered marriage with Gopal Hasda, a resident of the NJP area of Siliguri, and the couple lived together. The family alleges that Sushna was subjected to physical abuse by her husband Gopal and has been missing since June 25. Efforts to contact Gopal for information about Sushna’s whereabouts were unsuccessful, leading the family to file a missing person report at New Jalpaiguri Police Station and a kidnapping complaint at Kharibari Police Station.
Despite these efforts, Sushna remains untraceable. The family suspects that Gopal may have killed Sushna and hidden her body, leading to the road blockade by locals demanding action.
Kharibari police sources confirmed that New Jalpaiguri police have arrested Gopal Hasda. The police are actively investigating the incident.
