Rajganj, 23rd March: Keshav Chandra Das an organic farmer from Rajganj, aspires to become self-reliant by cultivating strawberries and capsicum.
Das, a resident of Bhatunivita village of Kukurjan gram panchayat in Rajganj block, is hoping for good profits this year despite the losses faced last year due to the coronavirus outbreak. He has been cultivating various vegetables including strawberries and capsicum by applying organic fertilizer on two bighas of land for three long years.
“Last year I cultivated strawberries in a large space. However, I faced losses due to the pandemic. Hence this year, I cultivated strawberries and capsicum in a limited space. I hope to earn profits this year as the situation has normalized to some extent,” he added.
Keshav Chandra Das said that he uses the mulching method for cultivating vegetables. Strawberries are cultivated after bringing seedlings from Hyderabad.
