Siliguri, 25th September: A disturbing incident surfaced from the Siliguri where a Karate instructor is under fire for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old student. The incident led to widespread outrage as several women staged a siege in front of the Pradhan Nagar police station demanding the immediate arrest of the instructor. The accused has been identified as Ramchandra Chhetri.
As per the details received, the student has been taking her karate lessons from Ramchandra Chhetri in Milan More of Siliguri since 2021. The student reportedly alleged being subjected to molestation multiple times for the past three years. Initially, the student was molested by her instructor while participating in a competition in Japan. In a recent incident, the student refused to participate in a competition held in Mumbai. Upon being asked the reason, the student narrated the entire ordeal to her family.
On September 22, the family lodged a formal complaint against the accused instructor at the Pradhan Nagar Police Station. Despite this, the instructor was not arrested prompting the protest earlier on Wednesday. The protest featured a group of women surrounding the police station demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. The police assured that the necessary actions would be taken and the situation was brought under control. At present, the case is under further investigation.
