Rajganj, 29th September: Kanyashree Club was inaugurated at Sariam Jashodhar High School, on Wednesday.
Rajganj MLA Khageshwar Roy and Jalpaiguri Primary Teacher-in-council chairman Laikkha Mohan Roy inaugurated the Kanyashree Club by lighting the lamp of Sariam High School in Rajganj block.
Gold medalist of international karate competition Pooja Das from Cooch Behar, former teacher Paromita Kar, and social activist Debashree Bhattacharya from Jalpaiguri were also felicitated during the programme.
The headmistress of the school said, “Today, Kanyashree Club was inaugurated in our school. Through this club, awareness was raised regarding the ideal age for the marriage of girls. Besides, three women were felicitated today.”
Rajganj Panchayat Samiti President Purnima Roy, Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad Co-Mentor Ahidar Rahman, Arindam Banerjee, and other teachers were present at the programme.
