Siliguri, 30th May: The Darjeeling District Committee of the Kamtapur People’s Party (KPP) submitted a memorandum to the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) on Thursday, listing six key demands.

Among the primary demands were the creation of a separate state comprising eight districts of North Bengal, the establishment of a unified Kamtapuri language academy, and setting up a North Zone office of the School Service Commission (SSC) in Siliguri.

According to the organization, four of the six demands have been addressed to the state government, while the remaining two have been forwarded to the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs through the SDO.

KPP members warned that if their demands are not met, they will be compelled to launch a more extensive agitation in the near future.
