Siliguri, 26th Janury: A team of Bharatiya Janata Party’s representation of Kalimpong, led by party leader Suva Pradhan, on Wednesday, visited veteran musician Kaajee Singh in his residence and extended their best wishes and congratulations for achieving the prestigious Padma Shri Award.
Kaajee Singh has dedicated his life to educating, spreading awareness, and documenting the musical instrument Shree Maadal, an important instrument used in Gorkha/Nepali folk music. He has undertaken research in the “Notation System” of this Instrument Shree Maadal and the traditional folk song “Maadaley geet”. His work is an effort towards formalizing training and education in the instrument and equivalent to the Taal system used in the Indian Classical Music System (Bhatkhande Taal System).
