JFMC provided searchlights to 250 people residing near the forest area

Siliguri, 25th November: On Wednesday, the North Dhupjhora Joint Forest Protection Committee(JFMC) of Murti Bit provided searchlights to 250 residents of the forest area to help them chase away wild elephants who often stray into the village.


According to the forest department, the Gorumara forest is situated next to the said area. Several wild animals including elephants are often spotted entering the locality. Hence, searchlights were provided to the locals for their safety.

Murti Bit Officer Roshan Roy, JFMC member Sahanur Islam, Azizar Rahman, and many others were present during the programme.
