Rajganj, 17th June: A late-night robbery at a jewellery store in the Balaram area of Rajganj sparked panic in the locality after thieves broke into the shop and made off with valuables and CCTV footage.
According to reports, the incident took place on Monday night when unidentified miscreants broke open the iron shutter of the shop and looted silver ornaments worth ₹50,000-₹60,000 along with several thousand rupees in cash. The robbers also took away the hard disk of the CCTV system installed in the shop.
The shop owner, Shibnath Karmakar, had closed the store as usual the previous night. He was alerted by a nearby shopkeeper on Tuesday morning, who noticed the broken shutter and informed him.
Upon arriving, the owner discovered the robbery and immediately informed the police. Officers from the Bhorer Alo Police Station reached the scene shortly after and have launched an investigation into the incident.
