Siliguri, 16th March: Kishan Kumar Agarwal, a resident of Siliguri’s Punjabi Para and a Chartered Accountant by profession, was kidnapped from Panjabi Para on January 7. A complaint, regarding the incident, was lodged by Agarwal’s family members at the Siliguri Police Station, on January 8. The Siliguri Metropolitan Police had arrested 4 men from Motipur, Bihar and also rescued Agarwal. The police also seized a sum of 48 lakh rupees from their possession.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Ranjit Ghimire was the prime suspect in connection with the incident. The police arrested Renuka Ghimire, wife of Ranjit Ghimire, on January 26.
However, according to information received from DD sources, it has been revealed that the mastermind behind the incident was Pradeep Tiwari. Ranjit Ghimire, Renuka Ghimire and Pradeep Tiwari, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, prepared a plan and kidnapped Agarwal from the Punjabi Para area on January 7. A team, led by DD ACP Rajan Chettri, was formed to catch Pradeep Tiwari. When the team raided Motipur, it was revealed that Pradeep Tiwari was hiding in the Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
The team launched a campaign, along with the local police, in the Khushinagar district, and arrested Pradeep, on March 14, from the Pathrewa Police station area. The team brought Pradeep to Siliguri on transit remand from Uttar Pradesh, late night on Sunday. The team presented the arrested accused Pradeep Tiwari in the Siliguri court, today. The team has demanded that Pradeep be remanded in custody to further investigate the matter.
