Jalpaiguri, 05th March: Sensation prevailed after a tenth-grade student of Indira Colony, Jalpaiguri, committed suicide by hanging herself from a noose. The deceased has been identified as Rashida Khatun.
It was reported that Rashida was playing with a toddler from her neighborhood, who fell from Rashida’s lap and suffered minor injuries, yesterday evening. It has been alleged that the toddler’s family members scolded Rashida after the incident. Feeling humiliated, Khatun committed suicide by hanging herself in her room.
Upon receiving the news, the Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
The family members of the deceased filed a written complaint at the Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police Station demanding strict punishment for the accused. The Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
