Rajganj, 20th December: In a commendable initiative towards cleanliness, the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad arranged two garbage collecting totos (e-rickshaws) for the disposal of the garbage of Ambari Haat. It is to be noted that on Wednesday the vehicles will be handed over to the Haat Committee and the local panchayat. Additionally, another garbage collecting toto will be provided to an adjacent Booth office.
According to reports, the Kharkharia Haat organized under the purview of the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad in the Binnaguri Gram Panchayat of Rajganj is locally known as the Ambari Haat. However, the absence of a designated garbage disposal facility remained a recurrent issue in the area. As a result, the accumulated waste was dumped near the market, causing inconvenience to the residents and the neighbourhood. Consequently, the issue was informed to the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad by the local panchayat members. In alignment with the issue, the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad arranged the vehicles for the organized disposal of the garbage produced in the Ambari Haat.
In this regard, Panchayat Pradhan Samijuddin Ahmed explained the vehicles were arranged to dispose of the garbage in an appropriate dumping ground near the Karatoa River. He further added the provision of dustbins for the accumulated garbage followed by its designated disposal.
