Jalpaiguri, 10th February: Under the leadership of Saikat Chattopadhyay, the Jalpaiguri Yuva Trinamool, on Wednesday, staged a protest demanding reduction of train fares. The Trinamool leaders and activists gheraoed the station master at Jalpaiguri Town Station.
It has been alleged that frequent scuffles broke out with the passengers at the station premises regarding the new ticket prices of the Haldibari to Jalpaiguri route. Hence, a protest was staged today.
Jalpaiguri Trinamool Yuva Congress District President Saikat Chattopadhyay said that several demands have been put forward, including a reduction in train fares for the senior citizens. He warned of staging larger demonstrations if their demands are not met within 7 days.
Meanwhile, the station authorities have informed that the matter has been informed to the authorities.
