Jalpaiguri, 20th May: Opposition parties have been raising questions regarding the role of Jalpaiguri MLA in the COVID period. Many people also expressed their view on social media.
While addressing the media, Jalpaiguri MLA Dr Pradip Kumar Barma gave a strong reply to the allegations leveled by the opposition. He said that he is not being able to get out of the house as he is experiencing physical problems after testing positive for COVID. The MLA also needs oxygen support at times. Nonetheless, MLA Dr Pradip Kumar Barma asserted that his party’s supporters are helping the people and that he is in touch with everyone through the phone.
It is to be noted, on April 12, MLA Barma tested positive for COVID-19. Following this, on 13 April, he was admitted to a private hospital in Siliguri. He alleged that he was discharged from the hospital on April 27 even though he had not fully recovered. On May 12, his test report came back negative.
The MLA accused the oppositions of making false allegations, without knowing the truth. He said that he is currently being treated at home on the advice of expert doctors, hence, was unable to visit the people and get involved in governmental work.
