Jalpaiguri, 20th October: Three youths have been sentenced to life imprisonment by Jalpaiguri district court for murdering a youth. The accused have been identified as Gopal Roy, Akash Dutta and Linton Goswami.
As per the information, on 23 July 2014, a young man was found dead with his throat slit near the railway line of the powerhouse area in Mayanaguri.
The Mayanaguri police, probing the incident, arrested two people on the very day. After interrogating them, the police arrested another youth. They learnt that the deceased youth was their friend.
The Jalpaiguri district court took the statements of a total of 36 witnesses in connection to the incident.
Judge Anirvan Chowdhury of the Additional District Sessions Fast Court of Jalpaiguri district court on Monday declared the accused as guilty and sentenced them for life imprisonment.
