Jalpaiguri, 28th January: The Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench has rejected the plea for CBI’s probe into the death of BJP worker Ullen Roy, who was killed during the Uttar Kanya campaign.
Today, Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya of the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench directed the ADG CID to investigate the matter. The court has directed to submit the progress report of the investigation by February 22. The court has also directed to complete the investigation by March 05.
It is to be noted, 50-year-old BJP worker Ulen Roy lost his life during Uttar Kanya Abhiyan, on December 07. The deceased’s family members alleged that Roy died from the police bullet. However, the police have claimed that they did not use any shotgun during the event.
Following this, Roy’s family then approached the court demanding a CBI inquiry. The family lawyer Abhrajyoti Das said that if they are not satisfied with the pace of the investigation, then they will go to the court again.
