Siliguri, 18th August: A man’s body was found hanging from a noose in a lodge located at Siliguri Junction under the jurisdiction of the Pradhan Nagar police station. The deceased has been identified as Jilap Sherpa, a 40-year-old resident of Jaldhaka in the Kalimpong district.
According to reports, Jilap had been staying at the lodge since August 16. On Sunday afternoon, the lodge management found his body and informed the police about the incident. Upon receiving the information, the police officers arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to the Siliguri District Hospital.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s family reached the scene shortly after being informed. Reportedly, Jilap had previously sent a message to his family via phone, stating that he no longer wished to live. The body is scheduled for an autopsy at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital on Monday.
At present, the Pradhan Nagar police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
