Siliguri, 26th August: The ISKCON Temple in Siliguri is celebrating Janmashtami with pomp and grandeur like every year. The festivities commenced earlier this morning with prayer and ceremonies, marking the start of a three-day celebration.
The day commenced with traditional ‘mangal aarti’ at 4:30 in the morning followed by the customary ‘Rajabesh darshan.’ Devotees have been arriving at the temple since early morning to participate in the celebrations. The temple premises have been decorated for the occasion.
Krishna Das, the Public Relations Officer of the ISKCON Temple in Siliguri, stated that the Janmashtami celebration is being observed with great zeal. Devotees have been arriving at the temple since morning, and a special ‘Vishwa Shanti Yajna’ will be held during the evening prayer. The ‘Maha Abhishek’ ceremony will take place at 10 PM, with the anointment of the deity with water from various holy rivers, fruit juices, ghee, and honey.
Additionally, a special midnight puja will be conducted to mark Janmashtami. Significantly, the event on Sunday, with various drawing competitions and quiz, will continue through the next day.
