Is a land dispute behind Siliguri’s Devidanga Firing Case? Police investigate all angles

Siliguri, 09th June: A fresh twist has surfaced in the Devidanga firing case as police suspect the incident may have been triggered by an old land dispute. The case is currently under investigation from all possible angles.

Pradhan Nagar Police Station IC Basudeb Sarkar informed that the arrested accused, Deepak Kamti, is a habitual offender involved in several previous criminal activities. Last Friday, a written complaint had been lodged against him by Bhola Baroi following a confrontation involving Bhola and his brother, Sonai Baroi. Another altercation between the parties reportedly took place on Sunday night, culminating in the firing incident.

IC Sarkar further stated that Deepak Kamti will be produced in court, and the motive behind the firing is being thoroughly investigated.

DCP Biswa Chand Thakur confirmed the arrest of one individual in connection with the firing. A gun, bullet shell, and magazine have also been recovered. While initial evidence points to a land dispute as the cause, the police are exploring all possible motives.

Meanwhile, while being taken to court, the accused Deepak Kamti claimed that he was assaulted by Bhola Baroi and his associates, which prompted him to open fire.
