Fulbari, 06th November: Residents of Purba Dhantala village in Fulbari are facing a constant problem with iron-contaminated water. Despite the setup of a purified drinking water system nearly a year ago, the water now contains high levels of iron and is unfit for drinking.
According to reports, the purified drinking water project was launched under the Fulbari-II Gram Panchayat, with a pipeline system and a timed water supply installed to deliver safe drinking water. Initially, the water supply was functional, and clean water was provided to the locals. However, due to a lack of proper maintenance, the quality of water has degraded over time.
Frustrated local residents have expressed that they have been facing this issue for a long time. The water coming through the timed water supply has a high concentration of iron making it unsuitable for usage. As a result, they are forced to purchase drinking water, which has become a financial burden. They urge the administration to address this issue immediately.
In response to the concerns, local Gram Panchayat member Uttam Sarkar acknowledged the ongoing water problem in the area. He assured to inform the higher authorities about the situation and request a swift resolution to ensure safe drinking water for the people.
