INTTUC protests in front of NJP Railway Station

Siliguri, 08th September: Members of the Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC) New Jalpaiguri branch staged a protest in front of NJP Railway Station today, alleging that certain railway officials are pursuing their own interests under the guise of revamping the NJP Railway Station in Siliguri.

The demonstration came in response to an incident that occurred on Friday, where Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers set up barricades in front of makeshift shops near the station, causing inconvenience to local traders. In light of this action, workers led by the INTTUC organized a protest this afternoon to express their discontent.

INTTUC NJP branch President, Sujoy Sarkar, voiced his concerns, claiming that certain railway officials appeared to be prioritizing their personal interests over the station’s development. Sarkar emphasized that the INTTUC supports the station’s renovation, but insists that railway authorities should consider the well-being of local traders before implementing crucial decisions.
