India’s first manned deep-sea exploration mission “Samudrayaan” unveiled by NIOT

In a significant leap toward advancing underwater exploration and research, India has initiated its maiden manned deep ocean mission, “Samudrayaan,” under the leadership of Chennai’s National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT). This groundbreaking endeavour aims to delve into the depths of the ocean, unravel its mysteries, and study its resources and marine biodiversity.

The “Samudrayaan” mission aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of fostering a ‘Blue Economy.’ It underscores the importance of responsibly harnessing oceanic resources to drive national economic growth, create livelihood opportunities, generate employment, and safeguard the overall health of the marine ecosystem.
