Naxalbari, 13th February: In a significant breakthrough, an Indian youth and a Senegalese national have been apprehended before entering Nepal illegally from India. The arrested Senegalese national, a footballer, has been identified as Abdullah Abubakar, while the Indian is Mukesh Thakur, a resident of Bihar.
According to reports, On Monday, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Personnel apprehended the Indian man along with the foreign footballer at the Lali Jote border of Naxalbari while attempting to enter Nepal illegally through the Indo-Nepal border.
According to SSB sources, the footballer from Senegal visited Nepal in 2019 to play football. Meanwhile, the SSB apprehended Mukesh Thakur on charges of aiding the foreign national to cross the border. Subsequently, both the accused were handed over to Naxalbari police.
On Tuesday, both the accused were produced before the Siliguri Divisional Court, while further investigation is underway.
