Indian Army truck falls into Teesta River, driver missing, one injured

Siliguri, 01st April: Traffic came to standstill along National Highway 10 after an Indian Army truck lost control and fell into the Teesta River today. Reportedly, the incident took place while the truck was travelling from Gangtok towards Sevoke road on operational duty.


As per the information, the truck driver and one passenger were in the vehicle. While the passenger managed to jump out, the driver went into the water with the vehicle. The passenger sustained injuries and is being treated in Military Hospital. As of now, the vehicle has been retrieved from the river, however, the search for the driver is still on. The cause of the accident is being ascertained.

Furthermore, Army divers have been deployed to assist in rescue and search operations. SP Kalimpong and civilian divers and rafters are also assisting in the search and rescue efforts.
