The Government of India has announced a day of national mourning on July 09 as a mark of respect for former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who earlier passed away after being shot while delivering a campaign speech in Nara city in Japan. A 41-year-old man, who appeared to have shot Abe in the back, had been arrested for attempted murder and a gun had been confiscated from him.
“As a mark of our deepest respect for former Prime Minister #ShinzoAbe, a one-day national mourning shall be observed on 9 July 2022,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter expressing his shock over the tragic event.
