Siliguri, 19th March: The NJP Police arrested a truck driver for illegally mining sand from the Mahananda River and also seized the truck. The arrested truck driver has been identified as Anup Kumar Kerkata.
According to Police sources, various complaints were being received in the Uttar Kanya region for a long time regarding illegal mining of sand in the Mahananda River at night. Based on a tip-off, the Police launched a campaign and seized a sand-laden truck, last night. The accused arrested has been presented in the Jalpaiguri court, today.
