Siliguri, 09th July: The Conservancy Department of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), on Sunday, rescued a large number of parrots during raids in a flour mill in Santoshi Nagar under Ward No. 05. Following the raid, 8 parrots have been rescued.
According to reports, under the guise of a flour mill, the illegal sale of parrots was functional in the said area for a long time. Acting on inputs, the SMC successfully rescued the birds. In this regard, SMC officials of the Conservancy Department stated that the parrots would be handed over to the Forest Department. According to sources, the parrots were sourced from Naxalbari.
