Illegal call centre busted in Siliguri, three arrested for fraudulent activities

Siliguri, 21st January: In a joint operation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Matigara police, an illegal call center operating under the guise of a tour and travel business was uncovered in Siliguri’s Webel IT Park Phase-3. The call center was allegedly scamming people, particularly abroad, with various fraudulent offers, including health insurance and loan schemes.

Following a tip-off, the police raided the call center and arrested three individuals; Randhir Singh from Kolkata, Bablu Modi from Jharkhand, and Rana Pratap Barman from Islamapur. The call center was registered as a “tour and travel” business under the name “Pride Solutions,” but investigations revealed it was involved in fraudulent activities.

During questioning, it was discovered that the three arrested individuals were employees of the call center, while the owner remains unidentified. The police recovered several computers and telephones from the site.

The police have registered a fraud case against the accused and are working with the cyber team to locate the main suspect. The three arrested individuals are set to be presented before the Siliguri court on Wednesday. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
