Illegal boulder trafficking busted in Naxalbari, two dumpers seized by L&LR Department

Naxalbari, 21st January: Acting against alleged revenue evasion and illegal transportation of boulders to another state, the L&LR Department seized two boulder-laden dumpers during a late-night operation in the Naxalbari area.

According to sources, the operation was carried out on Tuesday night along the Panighata-Naxalbari state road. Officials intercepted the vehicles after receiving information about illegal extraction and transportation of boulders from the Manja River under the Panighata police station area.

During the inspection, two dumpers carrying boulders were stopped. The drivers reportedly failed to produce valid documents or royalty papers for the consignment. Following this, the L&LR Department seized both vehicles and handed them over to Naxalbari police station for further legal action.

L&LR Officer Dipanjan Majumdar stated that the boulders were being transported under the cover of darkness while evading government revenue. He added that during the raid in the Changa Basti area, two dumpers without valid royalty clearance were found.

The seized vehicles will be fined as per rules, and further investigation into the illegal boulder trafficking case is underway.
