Siliguri, 03rd September: During a press conference in Siliguri’s Border Security Force (BSF) office on Friday, Ravi Gandhi, IG of BSF’s North Bengal Frontier, said that criminal activities in the Indo-Bangladesh border area have declined in the last few months. The number of trespassers has reduced and many cattle have been rescued before being smuggled.
He said that BSF is working very well in the border areas. The border is open in some places. Fencing work will commence in those areas on behalf of the central government soon. Besides, South Dinajpur has a large population in the border area. Hence, special surveillance is being carried out to prevent trespassing. Additional boats are being run to prevent smuggling of cattle through rivers.
