If Government Road work is not started soon, contractors will be blacklisted: Siliguri Mayor’s stern message

Siliguri, 14th December: Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb has cautioned contractor companies that they will be blacklisted if government road work is not started soon. This stern message was delivered during the Talk to Mayor program on Saturday after complaints were received about the delay in starting road repairs despite tenders being awarded.

Reports indicate that complaints have been consistently raised through the Talk to Mayor initiative regarding the poor condition of roads in various parts of the city. One such road is Satyen Bose Road by-lane in Ward No. 30, where locals have been facing issues for an extended period. Along with the road, the drainage system is also in a dilapidated state. Despite these repeated complaints, the road has not been repaired.

The Mayor confirmed that the tender for the work had already been awarded, and the project was supposed to commence soon. However, the work has yet to begin. On Saturday, another citizen called to complain about the same issue.

In response, Mayor Gautam Deb sent a strong message to the contractors, stating that if the roadwork does not commence within seven days, the contractor companies will be blacklisted. He further added that if necessary, contractors from outside will be hired to carry out the work.
