A specially painted tram showcasing various aspects of the Durga Puja will run from the Tollygunge-Ballygunge route. It has to be noted that, Kolkata’s iconic tram service, the only tram service in India, is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
The tram, designed with scenes starting with the creation of the idol of the goddess to ‘Sindoor Khela’ will operate from October 16 till December 31.
According to reports, the tram will cover famous locations of historic importance and famous puja pandals. In addition, the tram will also honor the UNESCO recognition of Durga Puja as an intangible cultural heritage.
