Rajganj, 23rd September: The Thakurbari ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) Center in Majhiali Gram Panchayat under Rajganj Block, has been operating under the open sky for a year and a half after its building was destroyed in a storm. The washrooms and kitchen of the center have been abandoned, leaving the 38 children who rely on the center without basic facilities.
According to local residents, there is no permanent staff at the center. Only one helper manages the center, cooking meals at home. The structure of the ICDS center, damaged by last year’s storm, has not been repaired, and the building remains in a state of complete disrepair.
They further complained that without any proper infrastructure, the center lacks even basic amenities, making it difficult to recognize as an ICDS center. The children’s early education has been halted, and both mothers and their children are being deprived of the nutritious food that the center is supposed to provide.
Additionally, despite the scorching sun, young children are forced to remain outdoors, adding to the community’s frustrations and complaints.
