I will convert red card into green card: Goutam Deb

Siliguri, 10th May: Trinamool leader Goutam Deb, who is serving as the Minister-in-Charge of Tourism Department since May 2016, unfortunately, lost the 2021 assembly election from the Dabgram-Fullbari assembly constituency. Despite his defeat, he has been appointed as the new Chairman of BoA of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.

While the TMCleaders took oath at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata in presence of party supremo Mamata Banerjee today, Deb stayed back in Siliguri and was indeed busy with various tasks concerning the SMC.

Speaking on the matter, Deb said, “I never installed a red beacon light on my car. Instead, the national flag was hoisted in the front of my car. People did not want me as a minister this time. They showed me a red card. But I will convert it into a yellow card now and will try to make it a green card in the future.” He added that he will visit Kolkata on May 12, where he will meet the new ministers.

Furthermore, Goutam Deb satirically said that he hopes the MPs and MLAs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Siliguri and Dabgram Fulbari assembly constituencies will work for the development of the region. “The central government will carry out developmental works of Rs 500 crore in Siliguri and Rs 300 crore in Dabgram Fulbari in 5 years,” he mockingly added.
