Siliguri, 21st January: The political and social media world started buzzing ever since an e-portal from Nepal published news claiming Gorkha Janmukti Morcha General Secretary and GTA Chairman Anit Thapa of being a citizen of Nepal.
This comes as a major boon for the oppositions and bane for the Binay Tamang – Anit Thapa faction GJM as the Bengal Assembly Election is just around the corner. However, Anit Thapa has denied all allegations and has claimed of being a true Indian citizen. He issued a statement in this regard.
“I was and am an Indian citizen. If anyone believes in the published news, you can go to the given address and enquire regarding it. If you find any evidence against me, you are free to file a case against me,” Thapa wrote on his press release.
The news published on the e-portal states Anit Thapa to be a “citizen of Nepal active in Indian politics”.
