Siliguri, 13th January: Hygienic boxes and bicycles were handed over to around 100 fish vendors belonging to the Siliguri Sub-division and Siliguri Municipal Corporation, under the initiative of the Siliguri Fisheries Department, on Monday.
The objects were handed over by the President of the Siliguri Sub-divisional Council and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Fisheries Department Tapas Sarkar and Siliguri Municipality Mayor-in-Council Sharadindu Chakraborty. The initiative has been taken for the common people so that they can buy fishes in a proper hygienic way.
On the other hand, Chairman Tapas Sarkar hopes that the fish traders will achieve profits as a result of this initiative.
The fish traders expressed their gratitude and stated that they would be able to keep the fishes fresh for about 48 hours with the help of these boxes.
