Siliguri, 10th August: The cops of Bhakti Nagar Police Station arrested a woman on charges of theft. The arrested accused has been identified as Bela Bara (23), a resident of Kalchini, who was employed as a house helper at the residence of Bhim Biswakarma located at Bankim Nagar under the Bhakti Nagar Police Station.
As per reports, Bela allegedly stole gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from the said residence and absconded. On Wednesday night, house owner Bhim filed a formal complaint at the Bhakti Nagar Police Station. Based on the complaint, police engaged in an investigation and arrested the accused within a few hours from her relatives’ place, aided by the active support of Matelli Police Station.
Following the arrest, police also recovered the stolen ornaments from the accused’s possession. On Thursday, the accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri Court, while, further investigations are underway.
