Siliguri, 17th August: Burglary at a residence in the Utpal Nagar area near Champasari created a stir in the entire area. The thieves allegedly fled away with gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs and 40 thousand rupees cash.
Heavy rain, that lashed the city yesterday, probably helped the thieves pull off the theft without the knowledge of those in the house. The family came to know about the robbery in the morning. The Pradhan Nagar police were immediately informed and the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
