Siliguri, 21st January: Panic ensued in Siliguri’s Ward No. 01 in the Dharmanagar area after a fire engulfed almost 10 houses completely into its blaze. Reportedly, the fire took place on Saturday morning at 9. As per the locals, the fire started in a house where food was being cooked on a wooden stove. In no time, the fire engulfed the surrounding houses.
Soon after the incident, the fire department was informed about it after which 3 fire engines reached the spot. Three residents were injured in the said incident and were taken to Siliguri District Hospital. Several gas cylinders burst in the fire completely gutting at least ten houses into its conflagration.
On getting information about the incident, Councilor Sanjay Pathak also reached the spot. Later, the deputy mayor of the SMC and the mayor’s council reached the spot. The councilor and deputy mayor assured to stand with the families of the victims.
