HHTDN demands geological survey to preserve NH-10

Siliguri, 02nd July: The Himalayan Hospitality and Tourism Development Network (HHTDN) is advocating for a geological survey to protect National Highway 10 (NH-10), which connects Bengal and Sikkim. During a press conference at the Siliguri Journalists Club on Tuesday, members of HHTDN emphasized the need for expert analysis of the mountainous regions along NH-10.

The organization highlighted that since the recent disaster in Sikkim, the course of the Teesta River has significantly altered, leading to repeated damage to the highway. This disruption has severely impacted not only the tourism industry but also the overall connectivity between Bengal and Sikkim.

To address these issues, HHTDN is calling for a comprehensive survey of the affected area by geological experts. The organization has already initiated efforts to raise awareness about the issue and plans to inform key political figures, including the Chief Minister of West Bengal, the Prime Minister of India, and the Chief Minister of Sikkim. Additionally, they intend to communicate their concerns to all relevant departments to ensure a coordinated response.
