Siliguri, 24th May: Yesterday, Siliguri Times covered a piece of news regarding a family of the Siliguri Purba Hatiadanga area, struggling to buy medicines for their 9-year old ailing son Akash.
Akash’s father Khokan Roy, a mason by profession stated that his 9-year-old son went through two medical surgeries, a few days ago. With no source of income and very little savings left, during the ongoing lockdown, he desperately sought help from the administration to help him buy medicines for his son and also feed his family in such a crisis.
In response to his request, several social activists and voluntary organizations extended their helping hand and handed over ration and medicines to the family today. One of which is the Hatiadanga Primary School officials, who provided financial aid to the family. The students of Siliguri Commerce College as well as many organizations namely Prochesta, Haiderpara Surya Sikha Foundation, Suryanagar Social Welfare Organization, and Siliguri Trinamool Chhatra Parishad stepped forward to help the needy family.
Roy acknowledged Siliguri Times for featuring the news as it helped several people learn about the difficulties being faced by them amid the pandemic.
