Heavy rainfall leaves several areas waterlogged, disrupts wedding ceremonies in Siliguri

Siliguri, 13th March: Heavy rainfall on Thursday night left several areas of Siliguri waterlogged, creating difficulties for residents and disrupting wedding ceremonies across the city. In several wards, rainwater even entered houses, worsening the situation for locals.

The downpour began in the evening and continued for hours, leading to waterlogging in many low-lying areas. Although the water receded from some places later at night, several households had already been affected as water entered their homes.

In Ward No. 46, multiple localities were submerged, with drainage water reportedly entering houses. Apart from this, areas such as Haidar Para, Ashram Para, ISKCON Temple Road, Ashok Nagar, Debashish Colony, Hakim Para and Lake Town were also badly affected by waterlogging.

Continuous rainfall caused water from the streets to flow into residential areas. The situation also disrupted several wedding functions scheduled on Thursday. In many places, ceremonies had to be halted due to the rain and waterlogging.

In Hakim Para, a bride reception venue was inundated with water, with rainwater accumulating inside the pandal itself. Guests had to walk through waterlogged roads to reach the venue.

The persistent rainfall across the city caused widespread inconvenience, affecting not only residents but also local businesses.
