Siliguri, 22nd April: After heavy rainfall accompanied by massive thunderstorms lashed Siliguri, on Thursday morning, normal life faced disruption. Uprooted and broken branches of trees were seen on the roofs of houses in various places, followed by no electricity service in many areas.
Reportedly, at 10 am this morning, dark clouds engulfed the city and was soon followed by heavy rainfall. Traffic came to a standstill as trees fell on the roads of several parts of the city. A similar sight was witnessed when a tree fell and blocked the entrance of New Jalpaiguri station.
Trees also fell on top of vehicles at various places and the tin roof of many houses was blown by strong winds. Meanwhile, works of clearing the roads have started in various places in the city.
