Balurghat, 27th May: Heavy rain and strong storm winds rocked through various areas of South Dinajpur, on Tuesday night, causing widespread damage in South Kuyaran, Mahato Para, Kuyaran Girjapara and many more areas under Balurghat No. 3 Chak Bhrigu Gram Panchayat. Several houses were damaged in the said areas due to which several people have become homeless and are taking shelter under the open sky.
Elizabeth Saren, a resident of the South Kuyaran area, stated that the roofs of some houses were blown off during the storm, due to which several people have no proper shelter. She further stated that the gram panchayat has assured to help the affected families.
