Siliguri, 01st September: The Ward No. 46 Champasari area has been flooded with water after heavy rain lashed parts of North Bengal since last night. Several people are facing a lot of difficulties as the rain entered residential areas too.
Meanwhile, locals complained that every year, they are forced to deal with water-logging during the monsoons. Several families are facing problems as multiple houses in the locality are half-submerged in rainwater. They further alleged that despite reporting the matter to the former councillor Mukul Sengupta, no initiatives have been taken in this concern.
Waterlogged localities and pedestrians wading through knee-deep or waist-high water were common sights in the area.
The locals alleged that the sewers are not maintained properly and expressed outrage over the fact that no public representatives rushed to their rescue.
