Heatwave likely to trouble people of Siliguri for few more days

Siliguri, 05th August: Sikkim Meteorological Department official Gopinath Raha stated that Siliguri will witness extreme hot temperatures for the next few days.


On Tuesday, Siliguri recorded a temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius, which is significantly higher than usual. Even today, the temperature in Siliguri was recorded around 38 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the possibility of rain has been predicted in the city and its and adjoining areas on August 8 and 9.

In this context, the Sikkim Meteorological Department official stated that as the monsoon trough passed over the North Bengal region the sky was cloudy and heavy rainfall was witnessed. However, over the last 3-4 days, the monsoon trough returned to normal resulting in clearer sky and decrease in the amount of rainfall.
