Siliguri, 20th September: North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) is once again making headlines, this time due to a forged appointment letter. The incident has raised serious questions about corruption and possible fraud within the state’s health department.
The forged appointment letter in question bears the government stamp and the logo of Biswa Bangla, with the address of Swasthya Bhawan in Salt Lake, Kolkata, also mentioned.
Allegations are now surfacing that a larger gang may be behind this fraudulent activity, raising concerns about the integrity of the health department and North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
It is to be noted that on Thursday, two individuals from Raiganj, Mustaq Ali and Imran Ali, arrived at NBMCH with an appointment letter for a Group D position. Upon investigation by the medical management, it was discovered that no recruitment process for such a position was underway, and the appointment letter was determined to be fake.
The incident was reported to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Medical Outpost, leading to the immediate detention of the two accused. The police have recovered the fake appointment letter and have launched an investigation to uncover how it was created and who else may be involved. Both accused are currently being interrogated, and the state’s health department has been notified of the case.
