Kharibari, 22nd July: A head-on collision took place between a lorry and a container truck on the 327 National Highway in Batasi, Kharibari, leaving three people injured.
According to reports, the lorry was heading towards Bihar from Siliguri, while the container truck was coming from the opposite direction towards Siliguri. Due to the poor condition of the highway, both vehicles lost control, leading to the collision.
Among the injured, two are in critical condition and have been admitted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), while another is receiving treatment at Kharibari Rural Hospital.
Upon receiving information, Kharibari police reached the spot and carried out rescue operations using three cranes. Following the incident, traffic movement between Bihar and Siliguri came to a halt.
Local residents have blamed the accident on the deteriorated road conditions, alleging that frequent accidents occur in the area. They have demanded immediate road repairs. Police are currently investigating the entire incident.
