Jalpaiguri, 08th January: A head-on collision occurred on Thursday morning when a dumper truck and a lorry crashed on the national highway near the Paharpur More area in Jalpaiguri. Both drivers were critically injured in the impact.
Police from Jalpaiguri’s Kotwali rushed to the scene immediately. Rescue operations, assisted by local residents, ensured both drivers were safely pulled out. The front sections of both vehicles were completely crushed in the collision.
The injured drivers were taken to Jalpaiguri Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that their condition remains critical.
The accident temporarily blocked traffic on the national highway. Police later cleared the scene and restored normal vehicular movement.
